MATH 5653 - Problem solving 1: Counting and Combinatorics (3 Lecture Hours 0 Lab Hours 3 Credit Hours)
Prerequisite: MATH 3003 or MATH 3243 The goal of this course is to expose students to middle and high school mathematics contest problems and to help them discover efficient problem solving strategies. After students learn the basic results and tools in a particular topic, they are invited to solve typical problems, where hints will be provided by the instructor as needs be. Students will gradually be introduced to various classical mathematical problem-solving strategies.
