Early Childhood Education, Ed.S.

Understandings and skills necessary for teaching children P-5 are the focus of this program. The program of 27 hours is based on a student’s background. This program will include 6 hours of Students as Learners, 6 hours of Societal Issues, 6 hours of Classroom Issues, and 9 hours of Research and Inquiry. Admission to the program requires a level 5 clear, professional certificate in Early Childhood Education based on an earned Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education. Any other master’s degree with teacher certification must meet the content specialization requirement in the Early Childhood Education master’s degree program in order to be admitted into the Ed.S. program. In addition to the requirements for regular admission, the following requirement applies for applicants to the Ed.S. degree in Early Childhood Education:

• Applicants must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA.
