The program in International Languages and Cultures prepares students to thrive in an increasingly multicultural and globally-connected world. We offer degrees and minors in French, German, and Spanish as well as a Stand-Alone Certificate in Global Languages and Cultures. We also offer a BA in Teaching Certification in French and Spanish. Students who study languages and cultures become more engaged global citizens while developing valuable skills in intercultural communication and research.

Field of Study: 18 Hours
Choose ONE of the following two options: Option A:
- SPAN 1002 - Elementary Spanish II 3 Credit Hours
- SPAN 2001 - Intermediate Spanish I 3 Credit Hours
(and) - FREN 1001 - Elementary French I 3 Credit Hours
- FREN 1002 - Elementary French II 3 Credit Hours
- FREN 2001 - Intermediate French I 3 Credit Hours
(or) - GRMN 1001 - Elementary German I 3 Credit Hours
- GRMN 1002 - Elementary German II 3 Credit Hours
- GRMN 2001 - Intermediate German I 3 Credit Hours
(and) - Any 1000 or 2000 level courses from ANTH, ART, COMM, ECON, ENGL, GEOG, HIST, PHIL, POLS, PSYC, SOCI, THEA
Option B:
(only available if second major or second degree completed) Courses Required for the Degree: 25 Hours
Note:
Spanish majors need to complete 15 credit hours of required Spanish courses and 3 credit hours of FORL 3000 and 6 credit hours of SPAN electives above SPAN 3015 and 1 credit hour of Spanish Capstone Electives: 35 Hours
The International Languages and Cultures Program strongly recommends to its majors that 3 electives be courses at the 3000 or above level in their major language. Total: 120 Hours
Students may retake a course in French, Spanish, or German for credit at the 1000 or 2000 level only if they have not completed a course with a higher number for credit. |
